Planned Giving Ideas
- Bequests – Create your legacy with a transformative gift in the form of a bequest in your will or trust.
- Life Insurance – By designating DSF as benificiary and owner of your life insurance policy you can make a sizable gift without a large cash outlay. You would also benefit from a federal income tax deduction for the cash value or your basis in the policy (whichever is less) and DSF would receive the face value of the policy at death.
- Stock Donation – A gift of appreciated stock to DSF is a great strategy to avoid capital gains tax while benefitting from a taxable deduction of up to 30% of AGI with a 5-year carryover.
- Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT) or Charitable Lead Trust (CLT) – CRTs or CLTs are split interest trusts that benefit both the charity, your heirs, and yourself. DSF will accept designation as the charitable benificiary of these trusts.
- Gifts from retirement plans or IRA’s.
- Employer Match Programs – Some employers will match your gift therefore doubling your gift!
Donor Advised Fund (DAF) Giving
Tax deductible donations may be made directly from your investment portfolio via a Donor Advised Fund. DAFs allow you to make charitable grants from your fund over time.
If you already benefit from a DAF and are interested in making a gift to Dolphin Scholarship Foundation, contact your investment firm and designate DSF as the recipient of your gift.
DSF’s tax identification number is 54-6038828.
Funds can then be mailed to:

Alternatively, you can use the DAF Direct tool if your investments are managed through Fidelity Charitable, BNY Mellon, or Schwab Charitable.
The Dolphin Scholarship Foundation highly recommends that the donor consult with their legal, estate, and financial planning advisor prior to utilizing the planned giving tools listed on this page.
