The Haines Society
Created in 2008, The Haines Society was named to honor John Lyman Haines, Jr. – the first Dolphin Scholar who was awarded a $350 scholarship in 1961. Every Dolphin Scholar – past or present – is invited to join The Haines Society. Members join forces to fund a yearly Haines Society Scholarship for the next generation of high achieving applicants. Contact admin@dolphinscholarship.org for more information on helping future Dolphin Scholars achieve their potential.
Donate to the Haines Society Scholarship
As DSF celebrates 65 years of granting scholarships, we are inviting you and your fellow Dolphin Scholar Alumni to award a scholarship to an intelligent and motivated individual like yourself for the next scholar selection cycle.
The Haines Society Scholarship is funded solely by 65 years of Dolphin Scholars who want to give back to the next generation of high achieving applicants.
A full year scholarship is worth $4,000, and we need your help. Many hands make light work – we know that life is expensive, and your funds are pulled in many different directions. That is why we are asking you to partner with your fellow Dolphin Scholars – together YOU can give one more student the honor of becoming a Dolphin Scholar. With your help, DSF can make the cost burden of higher education a little bit lighter for someone now standing where you were, not that long ago.
2024-2025 Haines Society Scholar
“Being chosen as a Dolphin Scholar represents not only recognition of my academic achievements, but also acknowledgement of the unique journey I’ve embarked on as a military child. As someone pursuing a career working with children, it signifies not only financial support for my education, but also validation of my passion for making a positive difference in the lives of young people. This scholarship is more than just financial support; it’s a testament to the dedication and sacrifices my family and I have made in service to our country. With this opportunity, I am excited to make a meaningful impact, knowing that my hard work and dedication have been recognized and valued. I am deeply grateful for this honor and committed to honoring it through my higher education.”
