RADM Virgil and Kim Hill Scholarship Campaign

A Message from Kim Hill:

I was honored when our friend and Virgil’s former shipmate, Admiral Rich Mies, USN (Ret.) recently reached out to me and suggested we create a scholarship within the Dolphin Scholarship Foundation, in Virg’s and my name. Virg loved his submarine career, and so did I. We loved every tour, every crew, and every place we were stationed. I might add, from everything I heard over the years, he was liked, and yes, loved and admired by those who worked with him, whether it was onboard a submarine, at the Pentagon, in the shipyard, Submarine Development Squadron Twelve, Submarine Group Five, the Naval Academy, and after he retired, Valley Forge Military Academy & College. He was a ‘people’ person, always seeing the best in everyone, and was a big believer in second chances. I cannot begin to count the number of young men and women who have said to me, over the years, “Your husband changed my life,” or “I am who I am today because your husband believed in me.” It has been one of the blessings of our lives to have been a second “Mom & Dad, away from home” to so many young people. That is why the thought of having a Dolphin Scholarship in our name, to help the sons, daughters, and spouses of the Submarine community – financially with their college tuition and further their education, would be such an honor for us. This would make Virg so happy and proud to continue making a difference in the community he so loved.
